Happy Monday to all! It is the college football national championship game tonight. The Alabama Crimson Tide against the Clemson Tigers are in a rematch of last year's championship game so it will be a "slobber knocker" for certain. College football is something that people all over the country are very passionate about, especially in the South, and DEFINITELY if you are from the state of Alabama. A couple of us played football when we were growing up and I will get to a couple stories from that but I find this game very interesting because my first football memory was watching Alabama play and win the national championship in 1992. The head coach of Clemson actually played for Alabama and was a part of that 92 championship team and is from Pelham, Alabama so he definitely has deep Alabama roots. I can't help but like the guy and how he carries himself, but regardless, if you are playing against Alabama you are still the enemy for the time being. Seth never really got into sports as a kid. Not that he couldn't have been good at any, he just never got into it. Myself, Eric, and Cody did play various sports though. Cody played football as a kid and made a play that not many folks have made. When he was in Pee Wee he was playing defense and had a highlight play where he sacked the quarterback and caused a fumble, then picked the ball up and ran it the other way and scored a touchdown as a defensive player! Eric played football for many years and was quite successful at it. His highlight play was not necessarily a game winning touchdown, although his team mates and the fans got a good chuckle. He had these crazy socks that were his lucky socks and always slept in them the night before the game. During the game he sprained his ankle and the trainers were having a look and they removed his shoe and sock only to find the most brightly painted toenails one could Imagine! Pink, purple, neon green, his nails matched his socks! The whole team, as well as the fans, erupted in laughter for a little (or a lot of) insult to injury. His claim is that his sister slipped into his room and painted them at night while he was asleep, but to each his own, you make your decision. I never played football as a school function. My Granny hated football because my Dad always got hurt playing football so she was not find of the sport. I made it to a few practices of spring training, then she showed up to practice with a baseball bat and said to the coach "he's coming with me, and this bat says you won't argue." I think u can guess what happened next...... We both said yes ma'am and did what she said because we were smart. Not that she was a mean woman, she was as sweet as they come, but she got her way. Ha Playing sports is a good way to learn lessons in life, though. How to do things the right way, how to be a team player and help those around you and you tend to carry those lessons with you through life. With that being said, we will be debuting our Alabama themed song, "We Roll" on the Fox 6 WBRC morning show Good Day Alabama on Wednesday morning. We can't wait to get some music out so tune in or be on the lookout as we will have the video up shortly after. See you all soon and ROLL TIDE!!!
